TASK:

Google Cloud and the tech startup Brightfield are future-proofing our power grids. The successful cooperation should be summed up in a customer video.

CONCEPT:

Brightfield uses Google Cloud to predict the load on the power grid. To achieve this, the start-up digitizes transformers with small boxes that collect data. In this way, old “offline” technology can be turned into a valuable source of data. Fast and uncomplicated. Using Google Cloud’s cloud infrastructure, Brightfield can analyze millions of data points at lightning speed, reducing grid outages, minimizing maintenance costs, and paving the way for a renewable power grid.

The film is intended to shed light on both the human side and the technical achievements of the topic. That’s why we’re telling the story through authentic interview statements from Brightfield’s COO and CTO. We show the technology in a stylized staging of projections and fast cuts.

IMPLEMENTATION:

From intensive interviews, the shortest and most informative narrative possible about Brightfield’s work was cut. Then suitable visual scenes and imagery were developed for the compact interview. On a day of shooting with COO Laura Faerber, animations and moods were staged with projections in an urban space. With Laura as the protagonist, a mixture of very human shots and technical details was created.

The core topic of “data” is the central connection between Google Cloud and Brightfield. They have a clear visualization in the film as flowing data points that move like rapids or electric charges, thus building a bridge between the analog and digital worlds.

The film shows that the path to a greener future of energy is possible through technological innovation and is already being taken today: by combining old technologies with new ones and thus being able to digitize and optimize incredibly quickly.
